The exhibition Cache presents works by Tabea Borchardt, Anne Glassner, Claudia Larcher and Katrin Mayer in the Lentos Reading Room.

Participating in the scholarship program of the VALIE EXPORT Center 2023/24, the four artists have developed projects that deal with processes of archiving and activating, with the physicality and the modes of writing of feminist art, with media-artistic transfers of knowledge and multi-layered temporal relationships of transmission.

The title of the exhibition alludes to technical protocols, spaces of retreat and photographic processes of cropping, framing or masking. What questions can be directed towards the history of feminist art from our present moment? How can inquiries of the past transform what has been handed down and how can new data sets be fed in? What role do caches, codes, hiding places or photographic images play when four artists relate their work and research processes to VALIE EXPORT’s archive?
