The mission of the VALIE EXPORT Center Linz is to make the archive of VALIE EXPORT accessible, to conduct research on it, and to enable others to do so. As an internationally oriented research center, it fosters artistic and scholarly engagement with media and performance art.
The Center is a collaboration between the City of Linz, the LENTOS Kunstmuseum Linz and the University of Arts Linz.

The VALIE EXPORT Online Archive is a research project of the VALIE EXPORT Center Linz, its development and programming was made possible by a grant from the Austrian Federal Ministry Section IV, Department of Art and Culture IV/1. The online archive provides a representative selection of the archive's holdings and offers interested parties open access to digitized material and metadata.

Acquisitions by the VALIE EXPORT Center Linz which are to illustrate contemporary discourses in the fields of performance, media and visual studies, film, psychoanalysis, feminism, and philosophy will also be entered on an ongoing basis.
