Radio-Choreography: EXPORT ON AIR

Netta Weiser in cooperation with Radio FRO
10/12/2025, 17:00 - 18:00
VALIE EXPORT Center Linz & Radio FRO

Radio-Choreography explores multiple ways of activating feminist performance archives through radio. Over the past months, artist Netta Weiser has been a research fellow at the VALIE EXPORT Center, investigating how EXPORT’s archive can be reimagined on air. In this live performance, Weiser transforms the VALIE EXPORT Center into a temporary radio station, broadcasting a selection of EXPORT’s performative poetry, a synesthetic video from the 1970s, and a conversation with the Managing Director, Senior Artist Dagmar Schink.
Weiser will also perform her work-in-progress ALASKA, a radiophonic adaptation of an unrealized film script by EXPORT. ALASKA portrays a polyphonic, fictional encounter between five transgressive female artists from different generations: porn star Linda Lovelace, artist Unica Zürn, mythical poet Danielle Sarréra, performance and media artist VALIE EXPORT, and Weiser herself. Meeting in the virtual space of radio, beyond the patriarchal gaze, they cross the boundaries of time, space, and subjectivity, experimenting with exchanging embodied memories, fantasies, shifting voices, and identities.

Netta Weiser is a Berlin-based artist and choreographer. Her work combines sound installations, performance, and experimental radio. In 2019, she founded Radio-Choreography, a long-term artistic research project exploring the transformation of dance into sound, the relations between live broadcasting and muted histories, and acts of listening as modes of being together. Her works have been presented internationally, most recently at Akademie der Künste Berlin, Tanzquartier Wien, KW Institute for Contemporary Art Berlin, Onassis Stegi Athens, WDR, Villa Medici Rome, CCA Glasgow, TONSPUR Micro Museum for Sound at the MQ Vienna, Tanznacht Berlin, Tanzmuseum Cologne, Zwergelgarten Pavilion Salzburg, and Badischer Kunstverein Karlsruhe. In 2021, she was a fellow at the Studio for Electroacoustic Music at the Akademie der Künste Berlin, and in 2025 she is a research fellow at the VALIE EXPORT Center in Linz. Weiser also teaches regularly at the Universität der Künste Berlin and broadcasts a monthly radio show on reboot.fm.
