Conference Performance/Archive: Media of Documenting and Recording

The conference will address the contradictions and the translations between performance arts, archival processes, and curatorial practices. It seeks to elucidate the manifold relations between performance practices, processes of documentation, and media of recording that produce clarity and knowledge. What references to the history and the present-day of performance art enable and facilitate documenting and recording in art and academia, in archives and exhibitions, in modes of writing and catalogs, in installations and festivals? The conference will explore the aesthetic procedures, collaborative spaces of action, and processes of transmission of performance documentations in order to develop these as independent contributions to a media theory discourse on contemporary art.
